Who we are

Pan Checked is an independent site for people who actually cook at home and care about the tools they use. We test cookware — cast iron skillets, dutch ovens, induction sets, chef knives, and the small stuff that makes a kitchen work — and write about what holds up, what doesn't, and what's worth your money.

We started this site because most cookware "reviews" online read like marketing copy with affiliate links bolted on. We wanted something different: honest opinions from people who have actually used the pan for more than five minutes, written in plain language, with the trade-offs spelled out.

How we test

Our writers cook on the products they recommend. That means real meals, over weeks or months, not a single afternoon photo shoot. When we say a skillet seasons well or a knife stays sharp after a year, that's based on actual use — sometimes our own kitchens, sometimes from a small group of home cooks we work with.

We do not accept free products from manufacturers in exchange for coverage. When we test cookware, we either buy it ourselves or borrow it from a friend who already owns it. This keeps our opinions independent.

How we make money

Pan Checked is reader-supported. When you click a product link on this site and buy something, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. These commissions help us keep the lights on and keep testing new cookware.

This support never changes what we recommend. If we don't like a product, we say so. If a cheaper option works better than an expensive one, we'll tell you to save your money. Our long-term reputation matters more to us than any single affiliate click.
